I wrote a guide to acestream a while back under a different reddit account but I deleted my account so I don't know if the old guide is still available. This one's better anyway.

I've found the only way to consistently find reliable HD sports streams for free is through acestream. A great way to find and watch acestreams is through kodi. Follow these steps to get it working.

WINDOWS

Please note this is a temporary solution I found on the tvaddons forum.
  • Download this zip file and save it somewhere handy.
  • Open kodi and navigate to system>settings>addons>install from zip>that zip file you just downloaded.
  • Go to programs>plexus and open the addon.
  • Say no to every prompt and let plexus download the modules. (If you don't get the prompt I'm afraid you'll have to start over and try again)
  • Enjoy using acestream in kodi.
ANDROID
  • Open kodi and go to system> file manager> add source and type the url in this pic. Call it .fusion.
  • System>settings>addons>install from zip>.fusion>xbmc repos>english>xbmchub
  • System>settings>addons>install from repo>tvaddons repo>programs>plexus.
That's plexus installed but to get it to work you need to install a separate app on your device. It's a third party app so you'll need to change some settings in android or fire tv. The next few steps are for android. The steps under fire tv are below that.
  • Close kodi and go back to your android homescreen. Go to settings>security>Unknown sources and tick the box to 'allow installation of apps from unknown sources'.
  • Open a web browser and download and install 'only the engine' from the acestream website.
  • Open the app, wait for it to unpack and say 'start succeed'. Don't bother signing in. You don't have to.
  • Open kodi again and go to programs>plexus>context menu> settings>acestream> choose the option 'kodi player + external app'.
  • Acestream links will now play in kodi. JUST REMEMBER TO MAKE SURE THE ACESTREAM ENGINE APP IS RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND OR ACESTREAM WILL NOT WORK ON ANDROID.
Fire TV

This is why fire tv is a bit of a pain compared to stock android. We have to sideload the acestream engine app. I'm guessing most of you already know how to do this (you're running kodi on firetv after all) but I'm going to outline the easiest ways I've found to do this.

  • Exit kodi and go back to your fire tv home menu. Then go to settings>system>developer options> and change 'apps from unknown sources' to ON and 'adb debugging' to ON
  • Sideload the acestream engine apk from the acestream website. This differs on whether you want to use something like an android smartphone or a PC/Mac etc.
SIDELOAD WITH PC/MAC
  • On your PC/Mac download ADB (Android Debugging Bridge) for PC or Mac.
  • You’ll have to use the Command Prompt (Windows) or Terminal (Mac) to do this. Enter the following commands, one at a time:
adb kill-server
adb start-server
adb connect [YOUR FIRE TV’s IP ADDRESS] - you'll get the ip address of your fire tv under settings>system>about>network
  • In the command prompt/terminal, enter this command:
adb install [PATH TO WHEREVER YOU STORED THE ACESTREAM ENGINE APK]
  • type this command:
adb disconnect [YOUR FIRE TV’S IP ADDRESS]
  • On your firestick, open the acestream engine app, wait for it to unpack and say 'start succeed'. Don't bother signing in. You don't have to.
  • Open kodi again and go to programs>plexus>context menu> settings>acestream> choose the option 'kodi player + external app'.
  • Acestream links will now play in kodi. JUST REMEMBER TO MAKE SURE THE ACESTREAM ENGINE APP IS RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND OR ACESTREAM WILL NOT WORK ON FIRE TV.
SIDELOAD WITH ANDROID

  • On your smartphone/tablet/whatever, go to settings>security>Unknown sources and tick the box to 'allow installation of apps from unknown sources'. Open a web browser and download and install 'only the engine' from the acestream website.
  • Download Apps2Fire from the google play store and run it.
  • Open the settings (three dots in the top corner), go to setup and enter your firestick's ip address - you'll get the ip address of your fire tv under settings>system>about>network
  • Select acestream engine from your list of installed apps and it should transfer. Give it a while and it should work. If it doesn't just try again.
  • Open the app, wait for it to unpack and say 'start succeed'.
That's all folks. Acestream should not work. Your mileage may vary but this works great for me.
